How to get your a$$ off Spotify in 2025

Image

Well here we are. After a series of events involving Spotify donating 150.000 dollars to US President Donald Trump’s inauguration, current trends in AI moozak, replacing artists with AI generated mood music and cutting off their revenue, and Spotify CEO Daniel Ek investing in military technologies, it was finally time to get my ass off Spotify in 2025! If you are considering to do the same, this guide may help you get started.

The problem with getting off Spotify is that you might(like me), have spent a lot of time carefully creating playlists and libraries of music you deem important to you. The methods shown here might help to get out of this misery

Get back the music you love

You spent hours creating playlists and finding new music and you don’t wanna loose all that. The easiest way to get a list of everything that you liked on Spotify is to export your library to txt or csv file. To do this you can use:

Tune my Music

Tune my Music let’s you export your whole Spotify library to a csv, or txt file. I would reccomend a csv since it’s more readable and you can easily import into a software like Libre Office or Only Office and view the data in a spreadsheet. Tune my Music also let’s you transfer your library to other streaming Services like Deezer, Apple Music, YT Music, Tidal and many more, if you are considering to make a switch to a different streaming service. I won’t do that since I decided to not use any kind of streaming services anymore, with the exception of bandcamp.

Alternatives(not tested):

While I don’t recommend this, since it’s piracy, there are tools that let you directly download music from Spotify. Though since there is music that might only be available through Spotify, it is the only option to get access to a song or album that you really love.

Deezeload

Deezload is a Telegram-Bot that downloads playlists and tracks from Spotify for you. Usage is pretty straight forward and the bot will guide you through the process. If you use the free version you will have to download each track separately, which can be tedious when you want to download big playlists. There is the option to download the songs as a zip, but it requires donating!

  1. Join Deezload Telegram Channel
  2. Go to Deezload Bot
  3. Follow instructions
  4. Download songs by right click “Save as” in Telegramm

You can also install Deezload as a Python script and run it locally from your machine: https://github.com/An0nimia/deezloader?tab=readme-ov-file

Spotify Download (Github)

Spotify Downloader is python script that downloads music in your Spotify library via Youtube. This method is used to avoid any issues related to downloading music from Spotify.

Audials (not tested)

Audials, is a service that records what you ‘re streams, and claims not violating copyright law. Costs:

  • 59,90 for permanent license
  • 29,90 for a 1-year license
